Q: Are any adjustments necessary after flashing my bike to the performance calibration?
A: One of the biggest questions going into this project was, would all examples run the same with
the same AFV settings, or would they need to be adjusted to suite each individual examples needs?
With more testing and feedback, we are now able to answer this question.
In theory each bikes fueling requirements should be very close to the same; that is, if all the
manufacturing tolerances and components like fuel injectors are held to a very tight tolerance
for consistency from one example to the next, they should all run the same. For most vehicles
this is true. Japanese bikes and manufacturing practices come to mind.
It's become apparent to me that these motorcycles have varying fuel requirements from one example
to the next. The norm seems to be about +/-3% with the '09 models, with just a few being a little more than that.
The '08 models can vary as high as +/-9%. The exact reason I can only speculate on,
and most likely it is a combination of variables, but my best guess is there are some components
or assembly variances that are affecting the fuel requirements and/or calibration adjustment from one bike to the next.
I have no control over this, but we have to deal with it.
This calibration will require some end user testing, using different AFV settings to find the optimal
Air/fuel ratio setting. http://www.ohiosportbike.com/Adjustmentpro.pdf
